Roger P. King
Field Representative
Roger joined the firm in 2006. He is a 30 year member of the BLET and retired member of the BLET Division 118 where he served as Local Chairman for 15 years, from the time of Div. 118's charter until his retirement in 2002. During that time, Roger was a delegate to the BLE International Convention 1996 in Detroit and 2001 in Miami. He served as Co-Chairman along with Brother Jim Jackson for the BLE 2000 Southwestern Convention held in St. Louis, MO. He also served as First Vice General Chairman on the Illinois Central General Committee.
During his time spent as Local Chairman Division 118, he handled all the investigations claims and appeals for that division. During his time as First Vice General Chairman, he assisted with several contract negotiations including SP-UP Hub and Spoke merger agreements for St. Louis and Kansas City.
In Roger's thirty-five year railroad career, he worked for six different railroads beginning with the Louisville Nashville, the Chicago Northwestern, the Chicago Missouri and Western, the Gateway Western, the Southern Pacific (SPCSL) and the Union Pacific. He worked as a switchman, brakeman, conductor and fireman before being promoted to Locomotive Engineer in 1974. After being promoted to Engineer, Roger worked a variety of jobs from commuter trains in Chicago to coal trains in Southern Illinois in addition to switch engines and through freight pool service in both Illinois and Missouri.
