What every driver should know about road rage

Everyone has a bad day from time to time. And when people are uptight, especially when they are driving, they could do things that are out of the ordinary and possibly harmful to other drivers. This could range from overreacting to being cut off in traffic or even tailgating another driver because one is late for work.

Either way, road rage is prominent on St. Louis area roads and highways. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, road rage is the term assigned to violent actions stemming from traffic based issues. Essentially, those consumed with road rage can use their cars as weapons to hurt other drivers. Because of the dangers involved, it is important to know if you are susceptible to road rage. This post will explore a few questions.

Do you tailgate or try to beat red lights? – As we alluded to earlier, drivers who are in a hurry commonly will ride people’s bumpers and run through red lights. These are telltale signs of aggressive driving, which can lead to a road rage incident.

Do you use your horn often? – Horns are supposed to be used to warn other drivers who may not see us, but when they are used as extensions of our frustrations, they can lead to other issues.

Do you scream and yell at other drivers? – If you yell at other people, it is only a matter of time before you take physical action against them.

The other lesson to remember is that people who cause accidents out of road rage could be held liable for the injuries and property damage stemming from an accident.
